Apple TV Takes Up Half of the IP Streaming Device Market Share

According to the news, the latest report from the market research firm Frost & Sullivan reveals that Apple TV, Apple's HDTV STB, has taken up 56% of the global consumer video media device market share. Roku, a smart TV STB, occupies 21% according to the report.
The report shows that regardless of the limited media that Apple TV provides, AirPlay has simplified the procedure of transferring media from notebook and tablet to TV.
Closely come after Roku is TiVo, which occupies 6.5% of the market share. Frost & Sullivan believes that although Google brought out Google TV, it doesn't perform well in the streaming device market.
In term of Google TV's performance in 2012, Frost & Sullivan concludes that devices based on Google TV platform doesn't give a good transcript so it's estimated that less than 1 million users.
