Apple iTunes Store Shares 75% of The Digital Music Market, App Revenue Has Exceeded Music 01.jpgAccording to the foreign news on 21th June, an analyst from the market research company Asymco believed that last year's sales in iTunes was USD$6.9 billion, which was about  three-fourths of the global digital music market.
HoraceDediu from Asymco, has also released a report related to Apple iTunes video sales, meanwhile it includes the consumption structure of all the media in iTunes.
HoraceDediu indicates that we can figure out the structure of iTunes digital contents sales from the diverse data. Currently there are around 0.575 billion users are using iTunes and the details of their expenditures on all the digital contents are like this: softwares/USD$9, books/USD$2, mobile apps/USD$16, music/USD$12,videos/USD$4(/person/year).
So it can be calculated that the annual iTunes digital music sales is USD$6.9 billion. Data from the IFPI reveals that the total global digital music sales of last year was USD$9.3 billion, which means Apple iTunes occupies 74% of the market share. But it is still an estimated, unofficial figure.
Recently Apple has announced the downloading statistic of the movies and TVs. Till now iTunes users have downloaded 1 billion TV plays and 0.38 billion movies.
HoraceDediu estimates that the annual iTunes video sales were about USD$1.75 billion, much less than music download sales.
As a supplemental download service, Apple has released online iRadio. But it is still doubtful that Apple music streaming could win the leading dominance.
